Fred Ambani Reveals Why AFC Leopards Are Confident Ahead of New FKF Premier League Season
Ingwe strengthened that belief on Saturday, August 22, when they defeated Ugandan giants KCCA FC 1-0 at Nyayo National Stadium.
The victory completed a perfect pre-season record for Leopards, who have won all three of their matches as they prepare for the new campaign.
Ambani believes the positive results have given his players a psychological boost and strengthened their belief that they can compete for major honours when the league begins.
The Leopards coach, however, insists there is still plenty of work to be done before the competitive campaign gets underway.
New signings impress Ambani
One of the biggest positives for Ambani has been the way the club's new arrivals have adapted to the squad.
Players including Musa Ceesay, Erick Balecho and Issa Emuria have continued to settle into the team, with the coaching staff working to ensure they understand the tactical demands of Ambani's system.
The coach is encouraged by the relationships the newcomers have already developed with their teammates and believes their versatility could give Leopards greater depth and provide additional options throughout the season.
Ambani also stressed that understanding the team's playing philosophy will be crucial if the new recruits are to make a significant impact.
“We are working hard to ensure they understand our style of play,” Ambani said after the victory over KCCA.
He added that the new players had integrated well and expressed confidence that they could make an important contribution once the league campaign begins.
“I believe in them to make a mark,” he said.
Three wins provide confidence
Leopards' perfect pre-season record has further strengthened Ambani's optimism.
The coach believes winning all three of their warm-up matches has created a positive atmosphere within the squad and given the players greater belief ahead of the new season.
“Our pre-season matches have been great because the results have been coming in,” Ambani said.
“We have won our three matches, and this gives the team a lot of confidence that for the next season, they can do something great.”
The coach also praised the supporters who turned out in large numbers for the KCCA clash, describing the occasion as a successful day for the club.
The combination of positive results, new signings and growing team chemistry has given Leopards renewed belief as they prepare to challenge the likes of Gor Mahia, Shabana FC and other FKF Premier League contenders.
Ambani will now focus on addressing the remaining weaknesses in his squad before the season officially begins, with Leopards hoping their promising pre-season form can translate into a serious title challenge.
