Trabzonspor Reach Verbal Agreement to Sign Former Liverpool Midfielder Fabinho

The Turkish club are preparing to bring the experienced midfielder to Trabzon in the next 24 to 48 hours, with a medical examination already scheduled, according to transfer reports published on Saturday.

Fabinho, 32, became a free agent after leaving Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad this summer. Transfermarkt lists the Brazilian as without a club since July 1, following the end of his spell in Saudi Arabia.

The move would reunite Fabinho with another high-profile former Liverpool player at Trabzonspor. Egypt international Mohamed Salah joined the Turkish club earlier this month on a two-year contract after leaving Liverpool at the end of the 2025-26 season.

Fabinho spent five seasons at Liverpool between 2018 and 2023, establishing himself as a key defensive midfielder during one of the most successful periods in the club's recent history. He subsequently moved to Al-Ittihad, where he spent three seasons before becoming a free agent.

The proposed Trabzonspor move is not yet a completed transfer. The agreement remains verbal, with the medical and final formalities still to be completed. Reports indicate that super-agent Jorge Mendes is involved in the negotiations.

If the medical goes ahead as planned and the remaining details are settled, Fabinho would become another major addition to Trabzonspor's ambitious squad ahead of the new season.

The Turkish side's pursuit of the Brazilian follows their high-profile acquisition of Salah and underlines their intention to strengthen with experienced players capable of making an immediate impact.
