Wolves Make Immediate Ticket Fee Change After EFL Ruling — What Supporters Will Pay Now

The change means away supporters will pay less than they previously did, while Wolves home fans will now face a 50p booking fee when purchasing match-by-match tickets.

Wolves forced to change ticket fee structure

The decision follows several weeks of discussions between Wolves and the EFL over Regulation 35.7.4.

The regulation requires clubs that apply booking or transaction fees to away tickets to charge the same fees on tickets for their own home matches.

Wolves had previously charged a 50p booking fee per away ticket alongside a £1 transaction fee, reflecting the costs involved in administering and processing individual ticket sales on behalf of another club.

There was no equivalent charge on home match tickets.

Having returned to the EFL this season, Wolves sought clarification over whether they could maintain that arrangement without introducing a home ticket fee.

The EFL has now confirmed that if Wolves continue charging fees when selling away tickets, the same charging structure must also apply to home match tickets.

Away fans will now pay less

Rather than extending the previous £1.50 structure to home tickets, Wolves have opted to remove the £1 transaction fee completely.

A single 50p booking fee will now apply to every match ticket purchased individually.

That means supporters buying away tickets will immediately benefit from the change.

For example, someone purchasing one away ticket will now pay 50p in fees instead of £1.50.

A supporter buying four away tickets in one transaction will pay £2 in fees, compared with £3 under the previous structure.

Wolves will refund £1 fees already paid

The club has also confirmed that supporters who have already paid the £1 transaction fee when purchasing away tickets this season will receive that money back.

The refunds will be automatically credited to the relevant supporter’s Wolves ticketing account.

Those credits can then be redeemed against future ticket purchases, meaning supporters do not need to contact the club or take any action to receive them.

It provides an immediate benefit for away supporters who have already purchased tickets under the previous charging system.

Home supporters now face a 50p booking fee

The trade-off is that Wolves will introduce a 50p booking fee on all match-by-match home tickets.

The club says it reviewed the available options before settling on the revised structure, with the intention of limiting the financial impact on supporters while still contributing towards the costs involved in providing its ticketing service.

Wolves also say the 50p home ticket fee is below the equivalent charge applied by the majority of Championship clubs.

James Davies, head of ticketing at Wolves, explained the decision after the discussions with the EFL.

“However, the EFL have confirmed that if we continue to charge fees when selling away tickets, the same charging structure must apply to home match tickets.”

Davies added that Wolves had therefore chosen to simplify the system by removing the £1 transaction fee entirely.

“We have therefore removed the £1 transaction fee completely and introduced one consistent 50p fee per match ticket.”

The revised fee structure is effective immediately and applies to all match-by-match home and away ticket purchases.

For away supporters, the change represents a reduction in the fees charged by Wolves, while those who have already paid the £1 transaction fee this season will receive it back as credit automatically.

For home supporters, the new system means a 50p booking fee will now be added to each match-by-match ticket.

Wolves' decision follows the EFL's clarification of the Championship regulations and allows the club to continue charging an away-ticket fee while applying the same structure across home and away sales.
