Rangers Make Late Deadline-Day Push for £13m Stuttgart Winger Badredine Bouanani

The Ibrox side still have until the 5pm deadline to complete their business and are now attempting to bring the 21-year-old Algerian to Glasgow.

Bouanani has been on Rangers’ radar and, with the club keen to strengthen on the right side of their attack, a late move for the Stuttgart player has emerged as one to watch.

Rangers pushing for Bouanani loan deal

The Daily Record reports that Rangers are close to tying up a deal for Bouanani and are working to complete the move before the deadline.

The winger joined Stuttgart from Nice last year in a deal reported to be worth £13 million and made 32 appearances last season, scoring twice.

He is now available on loan, giving Rangers an opportunity to add an experienced young player with Bundesliga exposure without making a permanent commitment.

Bouanani previously came through the Lille academy before establishing himself at Nice and subsequently earning a move to Germany.

Why Rangers want another winger

Rangers have already added Daisuke Yokota during the current transfer window, while Findlay Curtis has also been given opportunities in recent matches.

Djeidi Gassama has impressed on the left, while Min-su Kim has been used centrally but is also capable of operating in wide areas.

However, McInnes still wants another option in the wide positions, particularly with Rangers looking to improve their attacking depth.

Bouanani would provide another natural wide player and could give the manager an additional option on the right.

Kelsy deal adds to busy Rangers deadline day

Rangers are also expected to announce the signing of Venezuelan striker Kevin Kelsy in a £9.5 million deal from Portland Timbers.

That would represent another major piece of business for the Ibrox club as McInnes continues to reshape his squad.

Thelo Aasgaard has moved in the opposite direction, leaving Rangers on loan for Anderlecht yesterday. That deal could reportedly become permanent for £6 million next summer.

Nico Raskin set to stay at Ibrox

One player who now appears increasingly likely to remain at Rangers is Nico Raskin.

Besiktas had reportedly made a loan approach for the Belgian midfielder, but Rangers rejected the offer.

McInnes then indicated that Raskin’s immediate future was at Ibrox, with the manager stressing how important the midfielder remains to his plans.

“Nico's been training every day,” McInnes told Rangers TV.

“And obviously with the news today that maybe nothing's happened for him in the transfer window before tomorrow, our need for Nico in the team is clear. So we're delighted, delighted to keep him with us.”

McInnes also suggested that Rangers will work with Raskin over the coming months to determine how his situation develops.

“If there is any disappointment, I'm sure it will be shown in his performance,” he added. “And between now and January, we'll work with Nico and see how things develop.”

Rangers now face a race against the clock to complete any final business before the 5pm deadline.

The priority appears to be a further addition in the wide areas, with Stuttgart’s Bouanani emerging as a late target.

If the reported loan deal can be completed, Rangers would add a 21-year-old winger with Bundesliga experience to a squad that has already undergone significant change this window.
