200 Golfers Set to Descend on Ruiru as Swing and Wine Tournament Hits Major Milestone

Organised by immediate former Ruiru Sports Club Lady Captain Rodah Mukami and friends, the tournament has developed into a major gathering for amateur golfers, combining competitive golf with networking and social activities.

The latest edition will feature golfers competing for honours across several categories, ensuring there will be plenty at stake throughout the day.

The prizes on offer include the Gross Winner, Overall Winner, Men’s Winner, Ladies’ Winner, Seniors Winner, Guest Winner and Junior Winner.

Mukami said the tournament had continued to grow with every edition and expressed her excitement ahead of this year's event.

“The tournament has continued to grow with each edition,” Mukami said, adding that organisers were looking forward to “an exciting day of quality golf, friendship, networking, and celebration.”

She also thanked the tournament's partners and supporters for helping the event reach its latest milestone.

Ruiru's growing golf reputation

The tournament's growing numbers also reflect the increasing role of Ruiru Sports Club in Kenya's golf calendar.

The club has continued to attract major golf events and players from different parts of the country, giving it a reputation as a venue capable of hosting both competitive and social tournaments.

Ruiru Sports Club captain Justus Mathenge said the club was pleased to welcome more than 200 golfers for the third edition of Swing and Wine.

He also linked events such as the tournament to the wider development of golf and the strengthening of relationships within the golfing community.

With more than 200 players expected and seven competitive categories available, the third Swing and Wine edition promises to be the biggest yet.

For organisers, however, the significance goes beyond the numbers. The continued expansion of the tournament suggests that its combination of competitive golf, social interaction and networking is finding an increasingly strong audience among Kenya's amateur golfing community.
