Manchester United Complete Carlos Baleba Deal as Documents Are Signed

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, United and Brighton have exchanged and signed all the necessary documentation, bringing the long-running negotiations for the Cameroon international to an end.

The agreement follows weeks of talks between the two Premier League clubs. United had initially seen a £65 million package rejected before returning with an improved proposal that ultimately secured an agreement. The final deal is reported to be worth around £70 million, including add-ons.

Baleba has already agreed personal terms with Manchester United and is expected to sign a five-year contract, with the possibility of an additional year. The 22-year-old has also been scheduled for a medical as the final stage of the transfer process.

The midfielder's move represents another significant addition to United's midfield under manager Michael Carrick. The club have already strengthened the position with the arrivals of Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa and Andrey Santos from Chelsea.

Baleba has been a long-term target for United, who previously explored a move for the player when Brighton valued him at around £100 million. The Red Devils have now managed to reach an agreement for a considerably lower initial fee.

The Cameroon international joined Brighton from Lille in 2023 and has since established himself as one of the club's key midfielders, making 112 appearances for the Seagulls. His ability to cover ground, win duels and contribute defensively is expected to add greater athleticism and balance to United's midfield.

With the paperwork now completed, United are expected to formally announce Baleba as their latest signing imminently, completing a major piece of their summer midfield rebuild.
