Liverpool Open Talks to Sign Ismaïla Sarr After Yankuba Minteh Deal Collapses
Liverpool have opened talks with Crystal Palace over a potential move for Senegal international Ismaïla Sarr as they search for a new winger.

The Reds have turned their attention to Sarr after their pursuit of Brighton & Hove Albion winger Yankuba Minteh reportedly collapsed following disagreements over Brighton's demands.

Liverpool are understood to have submitted a proposal worth around £50 million for Sarr, with the player reportedly keen on making the move to Anfield.

Sarr emerges as Liverpool target

The 28-year-old has become Liverpool's latest attacking target as the Premier League champions look to strengthen their wide options before the transfer window closes.

Sarr joined Crystal Palace from Marseille in 2024 and has since established himself as an important member of Oliver Glasner's squad. His pace, direct running and ability to operate on either flank have made him an attractive option for Liverpool.

The Senegal international also has extensive Premier League experience from his previous spell with Watford, where he made more than 50 league appearances and established a reputation as one of the division's most dangerous wide attackers.

Liverpool's interest comes after their attempts to sign Minteh failed to progress. The Reds had reportedly agreed personal terms with the Brighton winger but were unable to reach an agreement with the Seagulls over the transfer fee and conditions.

Palace face decision over Sarr

Crystal Palace have already demonstrated their determination to retain Sarr, having rejected two approaches from Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Liverpool's reported £50 million proposal would therefore provide Palace with a significant decision to make, particularly with the transfer deadline approaching.

Sarr's versatility could appeal to Liverpool manager Arne Slot, who has sought greater depth and competition across his attacking positions.

The forward's experience at both club and international level would also offer Liverpool an established option rather than relying solely on a developing youngster.

Liverpool move quickly

The Reds are now expected to accelerate negotiations with Palace as they attempt to secure an alternative after the Minteh deal fell through.

Sarr's reported willingness to join Liverpool could prove crucial if the two clubs can find common ground over the transfer fee and payment structure.

With Liverpool keen to add another winger before the window closes, the Senegalese forward has quickly emerged as a leading candidate.

A deal would see Sarr return to the Premier League with the opportunity to compete for major honours at Anfield, while Palace would face the difficult task of replacing one of their key attacking players so late in the transfer window.
