Ipswich Town Close in on Loan Deal for Tammy Abraham

According to Sky Sports, discussions have advanced over a temporary move for the 28-year-old, with a deal now understood to be close.

Abraham returned to Aston Villa in January after the club agreed a reported £18.2 million deal to bring him back to Villa Park. He had previously enjoyed a hugely successful loan spell at the club during the 2018/19 season, scoring 25 league goals as Villa secured promotion to the Premier League.

The proposed loan move comes amid increased competition for places in Unai Emery's attack.

Villa remain keen to strengthen their forward options and have recently been linked with a potential loan move for Real Madrid youngster Endrick. Ollie Watkins also remains an important part of Emery's plans, potentially making regular first-team opportunities harder to guarantee for Abraham.

A move to Ipswich would give the England international an opportunity to play more consistently while bringing considerable experience to Kieran McKenna's squad.

Abraham has played for Chelsea, Roma, AC Milan, Besiktas and Aston Villa during his senior career and has also earned 11 England caps. His previous success in English football could make him an important addition for Ipswich.
