Brentford Prepare £37m Bid for West Ham Defender El Hadji Malick Diouf

The Bees have already seen three proposals rejected by West Ham but remain determined to secure the Senegal international's signature. A fresh bid is now expected as Brentford continue negotiations with the Championship club.

Diouf has emerged as a key target for Brentford, who are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of another Premier League campaign. The 21-year-old is reportedly keen on returning to the top flight following West Ham's relegation last season.

Diouf's future remains uncertain

The Senegalese defender joined West Ham from Slavia Prague last summer for a reported £19 million and enjoyed a productive first season in England.

He made 32 Premier League appearances during the 2025/26 campaign and contributed five assists, establishing himself as one of the Hammers' most reliable options at left-back.

However, Diouf's position at West Ham has become increasingly uncertain following the club's relegation to the Championship.

He featured in West Ham's opening Championship fixture but was subsequently left out of the squad for their 2-1 defeat by Charlton Athletic, further fuelling speculation about his future.

Brentford's persistence suggests they believe an agreement can still be reached, despite West Ham rejecting their previous approaches.

Brentford refuse to give up

The proposed £37 million package would represent a significant profit for West Ham on the £19 million they paid for Diouf just over a year ago.

Brentford manager Keith Andrews is reportedly keen to add the defender to his squad as the club look to build on last season's campaign, when they narrowly missed out on European qualification on goal difference.

Diouf's versatility is another factor behind Brentford's interest. The Senegal international can operate as a conventional left-back or further forward as a wing-back, offering greater tactical flexibility.

For West Ham, the decision will centre on whether the financial package is attractive enough to sanction the departure of one of their key players while they attempt to secure an immediate return to the Premier League.
